Journey Through Winchester's Past
We will meet in front of the Westgate, the medieval entrance to the town; we will speak and learn about this Ancient Capital of England: Winchester. Here we will see what remains of Winchester Castle, the Great Hall and talk of: King Arthur, the Domesday Book, and Thomas Hardy. We will continue down the famous High Street with its' beautiful buildings. Then we will see the marvel that is Winchester Cathedral. Here with will learn about famed author Jane Austen, her connection to Winchester, who is buried in the Cathedral. After we will stroll the banks of the River Itchen, which inspired the poetry of John Keats. We will see the remains of the Wolvesey Palace, Winchester College, before we finish our Experience at the Jane Austen House. Afternoon tea with the Alpacas
You will be warmly greeted and shown to your picnic table (in the winter months you can eat in our cosy warm cabin) ready to meet the Alpacas. This is an afternoon tea with a difference, you will enjoy a short talk by your host on alpacas so you learn a bit about them, then you will be able to enjoy your afternoon tea whilst the alpacas graze close by. This will consist of a selection of sandwiches and cakes and a pot of tea or coffee. You will be able to enjoy your afternoon tea with the alpacas as they will graze right up close to your table so keep an eye on your cake! A great opportunity to take photos, get to know more about Alpacas whilst enjoying an afternoon tea. This is in a peaceful setting so a chance to relax away from crowds, enjoy some quiet time and be close to nature with Alpacas for company. After your afternoon tea you will be able to feed the alpacas so this is a unique experience and so much more than just an afternoon tea. Other things to note In the winter months, you will be able to eat in our warm and cosy cabin. Afterwards you will be able to feed our alpacas. Well behaved children are welcome, however we are not a petting zoo and is not suitable for children who want to run, scream and shout. This is a peaceful but fun experience.
Beekeeping in the South Downs
We'll meet at our farm for an initial introduction. Next we'll walk the grounds and explain the relationship between nature and bees, underlining their importance to the eco system. Then, we'll take you through the equipment needed to practise bee keeping, the main events in the beekeeping year, how we manage the swarming season and extract the golden honey. We'll visit one or two of our apiary sites in the locality, and if weather permits we may open a hive to let you see what the inside of a bee colony looks like. Afterwards, we'll return to the farm and try some honey tasting to help you understand the different types of honey available. A relaxing experience enjoying nature and gaining an appreciation of these beautiful, selfless animals. Other things to note Decent footwear is key if we are walking - but it should not be too demanding.
Night Hike the Jurassic Coast
There is so little time or opportunity nowadays to experience the countryside and coast at night, away from the blinding glare of street lights and vehicles. My Night Hike on the Jurassic Coast takes you to a quiet part of coastline that is completely free of all light pollution and rich in wildlife. We will follow well maintained tracks and paths from the village of Worth Matravers in Purbeck along the ancient Priests Way and down winding valleys to the wave-washed rocks at Seacombe or Winspit Coves. From here we walk along a fenced clifftop path back to the Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers and on the way I tell tales of the shipwrecked sailors and smugglers that haunt the surrounding cliffs and valleys Along the way there is a possibility of seeing a variety of nocturnal wildlife such as deer, badgers, bats and owls. If we are lucky the sky will be clear of clouds and we can enjoy some wonderful star gazing. Other things to note The route follows well maintained paths and tracks for the entire route but it is often VERY muddy and slippery so please bring suitable footwear with good grippy soles. Bright and comfortable head torches can be provided but bring you own if you wish.

You will be able to produce very professional chocolates using the facilities of a home kitchen. so you can continue to make chocolates at home. Hands-on practical sessions: How to temper (crystalise) chocolate, in a home environment (this is important as most chocolatiers only show the table technique) How to make a ganache How to make chocolates using moulds Decorating moulds using cocoa butter colours Coating the moulds, filling and sealing them During Easter months we can make Easter eggs How to take care of chocolate equipment Finishing You will take away with you lots of chocolates that you have made yourself, for you, your friends and family to enjoy beautifully packed for presents. Winchester Running Tour
My Winchester Running Tour is offering you a guided 5 mile run at a leisurely pace, In and around the Winchester area, taking in the local sights you may or may not know about? Meeting up and starting at Winchester Cathedral in the centre of Winchester, we will start by taking in the sights of the city centre, seeing such things as the the Guildhall and the King Alfred statue situated at the bottom of the high street, before heading along the beautiful River Itchen. We then head on to St Catherine’s hill, which will also include running/walking up the steps to admire the breathtaking views from the top, where there is a great views to be had of the surrounding areas of Winchester and the centre of Winchester. We will also stop and both of the top and the bottom of St Catherines hill to see some mural artwork, done by a local artist in the area. Once down at the bottom we then head on towards the Hockley Railway Viaduct, and run across it and where once again there is great views to be had. From there it’s a run (if not to muddy), through a peaceful rural area of the city back towards the city centre, where the tour will end and you receive your memento of the run to take home with you.
Guided walks with New Forest Nature and Nurture
We will meet for a guided walk in the New Forest. I can tailor to your needs and delve into the real working forest away from the tourist hotspots while sharing with you my local knowledge of the history, landscape, wildlife and local people to give you a better understanding for this beautiful place and how the grazing animals have shaped the landscape. The walks average 4-7 miles and can easily involve a pub lunch on request. The walks are not limited to daytime, I can be a available at sunrise or sunset to see the best of the wildlife. Longer or shorter walks are available on request. I would advise contacting me first so we can tailor the walk for you.
Chichester to West Wittering Beach by Electric Bike & Boat
Join me on a magical 4/5 hour circular eBike ride from Chichester to West Wittering Beach After an eBike introduction & instruction on how to use them, when everyone is comfortable & happy we'll set off on our adventure This unforgettable leisurely trip first takes us through the scenic country lanes to Chichester Harbour (AONB/SSSI/Ramsar). One of Britain's most popular boating waters it also is major wildlife haven. Around 55K birds reside/visit each year. We'll catch the licensed ferry boat to Itchenor - a short ride across the water & a great way to see the harbour aboard a boat captained by an experienced ferryman. Next, from Itchenor we join part of the Saltern's Way cycle path, a TRAFFIC FREE section through scenic farmland We then reach West Wittering village & then onto the beach. This blue flag beach has toilets, showers & a cafe. The beach has lifeguards (Mid May to Mid September) & designated swimming zones We'll explore the sand dunes at East Head, a National Trust site and one of the last surviving pieces of natural coastline in West Sussex. The unspoilt, rural bliss of the surrounding area easily earns its reputation as one of the best beaches in the UK. From the beach we then return back to Chichester via the Marina, scenic country lanes and back roads. Total trip approx 4 to 5 hours, 20 miles. Ideal for beginner cyclists & all flat terrain.

Join me on a magical electric bike & walking tour of Kingley Vale Nature Reserve, Europe's finest yew tree forest! Part of the South Downs National Park, this world class mosaic of natural habitats is home to amazing wildlife, ancient trees & rare plants This unique tour is a chance to experience nature, take in breath taking landscapes & to find out fascinating local history on route After an Ebike introduction & instruction on how to use them, when everyone is comfortable & happy we'll set off on our adventure From Chichester we take the scenic back roads & bridle paths to Kingley Vale The spectacular yew groves form the heart of this reserve & here there are several large & extremely old trees, some are estimated to be amongst the oldest living things in Britain From the Vale we'll head up to the chalk grasslands of Bow Hill. At the summit, we'll see some of the best views in England. The panoramic views are stunning in all directions. Looking South you can see Chichester Harbour & beyond the Isle of Wight We'll check out the Bronze Age burial mounds & discover the legends that surround this ancient archaeological site. Known as the the Devil’s Humps or the King's Graves, these mounds are considered some of the most impressive barrows surviving in the UK To complete our journey we'll make our way downhill & return to Chichester via the scenic back roads
A guide to better Photography
Before the workshop I will contact you to find out a bit more about your photographic interests and level of experience. I will meet you at the superb locations of Blackwater here in the New Forest. With the lovely backdrop of tall trees, open heath and a pond we will work on Basic Controls of the camera and the lens together with what some of the buttons do and what information the camera can provide. We will work on composition and how to take best advantage of the available light and how it changes. We will explore scenarios from photographing your family in the landscape, landscape photography itself to photographing wildlife and nature. After we finish I will prepare a summary of what we covered to help you take in the new techniques which will help your photography grow. Other things to note This photography learning experience is aimed at photographers who tend to use program and auto modes and would like to know more about how to get the best out of their camera. Discover Winchester with a Medieval Historian
Discover the medieval capital of the Kingdom of England with a PhD medieval historian. Dr Lillian Cespedes Gonzalez, local to Winchester, studied medieval history in this city as well so you will get insider and history knowledge all at the same time. Learn about King Alfred the Great, King Arthur and the Round Table, as well as empowering female locals such as Licoricia of Winchester. We will also walk by Winchester Cathedral, Winchester College and the Barracks. Depending on the day of the week, we will have a chance to enjoy the local market with its fresh produce and artisan stalls.
Bob Ross Painting Experience
Firstly the students choose a painting from my collection (everyone paints the same ) After my initial introduction, we have a practice on an old canvas, when I show you how to use the brushes to create the painting, to get familiar with the materials. We then change to a brand new canvas (20 x 16 inches) and I teach you slowly starting with the sky, and layer by layer to build up the painting till it is finished. I will give everyone all the time needed to produce a painting that will astound yourself and your friends. I can teach anyone to paint. Even if you've only ever painted doors and skirting boards before. The Bob Ross method of painting is simple to understand and the first time you do it, you can get a fantastic result. I supply all the materials needed including plastic aprons, tea and coffees and gentle music! It's a very relaxed atmosphere of having fun while learning to paint. The time limit is not strict as some people need more time, which is no problem, as I believe that this is your day, and if that means more time, its OK with me PLEASE BE AWARE, I will take everyones temperature with my new infra red thermometer. If you have a high temperature YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN US FOR THE PAINTING SESSION. You will receive your payment back from Air B&B Due to COVID 19 I have lowered my class to 2 people, but contact me I can do 4 people from same bubble. Meet Bee the sheep with a New Forest commoner
When you arrive I will greet you with a Hot chocolate, Tea or freshly ground coffee. While you enjoy your drink out in our beautiful gardens adjacent to the paddock, I can chat to you about the breed and how we have come to raise our own flock of Shetlands. I can share my experiences of living in the New Forest and the commoners life. Then get on your boots, get some fresh air and join me out in our paddock to meet "Bee" and my super friendly flock. I will teach you how to interact and connect with the sheep in a meaningful way. I can gear the experience for all age groups, please let me know the age of any younger children attending in advance. I have built up a fantastic relationship with these animals and "Ewe" will be amazed at how tame they are!! After you have had enough sheep therapy and the experience ends, you could enjoy the rest of your day in the forest or visit the Royal Oak pub for lunch, a drink or an ice-cream only a short walk away. Under 4s are welcome but are generally not able to enter the paddock with the sheep. They can however pet the sheep through a gate. Please note we cannot welcome dogs.

This experiece is perfect for all ages. A chance to feed the alpacas and learn more about where they come from and how we care for them.
The Titanic Secrets of Southampton
We will meet at the foot of the Town Quay, Southampton's Port of call for ships sailing to the Isle of Wight. As we walk, we will hear of how the Port of Southampton today operates, where, and what Cruises operate from these busy Piers. We will visit the site of the Mayflower ship's last docking before sailing to America. We will walk the start of the QE2 Mile, hearing of that modern famous ships connection to Southampton. We will then see the secret location of the White Star Line's office, where the bereaved waited news of the Titanic's Fate. And finally to Oxford Street, home to all the things Titanic. We will speak and see of all the surprises of the Titanic hiding in plain sight of Modern Southampton. Kayak Adventure Tour to explore Old Harry Rocks in Dorset
Our sea kayaking adventure in Studland bay is something pretty special. It marks the beginning of the Jurassic Coastline, a UNESCO World Heritage sight which also happens to be an iconic landmark Old Harry Rocks, that is filled to the brim in myth, magic and legend, with the tales of pirates and smugglers contributing to the history of our home which we happily share along the way. Old Harry Rocks is a beautiful and iconic sea kayaking destination, and the best way to explore this iconic landmark is from a sea Kayak, our hut on the shores of Middle beach is just a short paddle away. After an inital safety briefing you will join us and jump aboard the kayaks to explore Studland bay in Dorset before heading out to Old Harry Rocks. From here, you will be guided you to explore the sea caves, arches and stacks of this iconic landmark by kayak. We will have frequent stops to discuss this area of outstanding natural beauty and there will ample opportunity to learn about the eco system and geology along the way. These trips are run using double sit on top kayaks so you will be sharing a kayak. If you are booking an uneven group number we have some single kayaks for this situation, if you want a single kayak please contact us and we can discuss this with you. Min age 12+. No experience required.
Pub Tour, Beer Included
Enjoy a leisurely stroll around Winchester with a local and visit 4 of the best pubs the city has to offer. Discover how we have the Romans to thank for inventing the Great British pub. See where the Bishop of Winchester performed a miracle (if you believe in such things!) which then allowed him to become a Saint and the pub named after him. We will pass both the Cathedral and Winchester College and discover how even those are linked to this wonderful city's beer heritage. On the tour we will stop at 4 great pubs to relax and enjoy a drink. A half pint of beer in each pub is included in the price of the tour.
New Forest off the beaten track/mindful walking
We will meet at my cottage which is an origional New Forest cottage dating back to the mid 18th century. I can provide parking space for a car. Together we will walk into the heart of the New Forest, off of the beaten track and discover the beauty and solace of the ancient forest. We will possibly walk through an Enclosure and along a waterway ( weather dependant) which meanders freely through the forest, or head into another Encloure. We will visit a Bronze age Bowl Barrow on route. This is one of the largest in the New forest being 20 metres wide and 2 metres high. We will stop in a forest glade experiencing the clear air, trees and the sights and sounds of nature all around us. We will hope to spot Sika, Roe or Fallow Deer hiding out in the trees. We will see New forest ponies and donkeys on route In the Autumn pigs will be roaming free during September and October and often will come up to say hello. I will Chat to you about the history of the forest, how the new forest ponies are managed and about commoning life in general. The walk will be a circular walk and we will aim to be mindful along the way and not rush past the beauty of the forest.

Our stand up paddleboarding adventure in Studland bay is something pretty special. It marks the beginning of the Jurassic Coastline, a UNESCO World Heritage sight. Studland Bay is a beautiful and perfectly sheltered beach ideal for stand up paddleboarding. This is the fastest growing watersport going and is the perfect fun adventure activity for beginners (min age 12+). Learn to Stand Up Paddleboard with us on the Jurrasic Coast in Dorset, stand up paddleboarding is not only fun but a brilliant core work out! Our experienced instructors can give you the stand up paddleboarding tuition you need to help you quickly master the skills within a two hour taster session so that you are confident and able enough to start using your new mode of transport right away!! Other things to note This experience is for minimum age 12. {We do run shorter tours for younger children} Please arrive 10 minutes before your session begins to allow time to change.
Enjoy baking delicious sourdough
The aim of this experience is to introduce you to the art of making authentic sourdough bread here in Boston Road, Henley-on-Thames. The experience begins at 10.30am in my home (free parking, a 5-minute walk from Henley-on-Thames train station). Together we will make our own loaves, using sourdough ferment (the starter), and combining it with strong white bread flour, spelt, water and sea salt. With the help of a few simple tweaks, we will bake the bread in a standard domestic oven, to a professional standard. See guest photos... I shall show you a French kneading technique to make light and airy dough quickly and efficiently. You will also learn how to look after your starter, that you will be given to take home, along with fresh-baked, sourdough bread. You will also have a shaped, unbaked loaf to take home which can be baked the next day in your own home. During lunch we will enjoy some fresh-baked sourdough, paired with a selection of cheese, charcuterie, fruit and wine. Other options available for vegans and vegetarians. The experience will take place in a large kitchen that is only used for baking bread. Places are limited to four people. No experience necessary.
