If you are not fluent in Spanish, no worries. The people of Puerto Vallarta are kind and thoughtful. Try to speak un poco Espanol; it will be appreciated and positively received, with great patience and understanding.

In Mexico, a meal at any family-run restaurant is respected and not rushed. It is considered rude, in fact, for the wait staff to bring your "check" or "bill" before you ask. So, when you have finished your meal and you and your amigos are ready to go, you can politely ask your server, "la cuenta, por favor."
