My Favorite places to eat in Whistler

Upscale seafood with an intimate vibe. About 3 km south of the village, this restaurant is a perennial favorite as much for its cozy, unpretentious dining room as for its great seafood. If deciding on only one item is hard, why not go for one of the samplers: the Rimrock Trio combines sea bass in an almond-ginger crust, grilled prawns, and rare ahi tuna marinated in soy sauce, sake, and mirin. Although seafood takes precedence on the menu—try the raw oysters with champagne—Alberta beef and local game will satisfy carnivores. If you want a booth or a coveted table near the fireplace, dine on the early side or make a reservation. Otherwise, be prepared to wait. 2117 Whistler Rd. Whistler, British Columbia V0N 1B0, Canada

Modern, stylish restaurant featuring Italian food & local ingredients, plus a large wine list. If you want filling comfort food, look no further than Il Caminetto. This Italian eatery serves up very generous servings of pasta, risotto, and other Italian classics like meatballs to name a few along with a great wine list. You can get every pasta split in half to here too, great for sharing. 4242 Village Stroll, Whistler, BC V0N 1B0, Canada

If you don't equate sushi with social buzz, then you haven't been to this perennial Whistler hot spot, which offers everything from après-ski to late-night dining. The chef's choice sashimi is a favorite, as are the dozen different house special rolls, including one tasty combination of shrimp tempura, avocado, scallops, and salmon. There are also teriyaki dinners and hot pots served family-style as well as a gluten-free menu. A score of sakes (and sake margaritas) accentuate the festive environment. Phoning ahead for take-out orders lets you jump the line.

Milestones is a chain of casual restaurants, with something to suit everyone and regular dining deals and familiar dishes with a twist. Originally opened in Vancouver in 1989, it has +40 location across Canada. Milestones makes our list because of the close proximity to the Aspens, located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain in the upper village, is a quick 5-minute walk to the apartment. Their happy hour is awesome... try the Bellini or the Caesars. 4555 Blackcomb Way, Whistler, BC V0N 1B4, Canada

It’s on Creekside. Rustic, long-running restaurant & bar featuring BBQ fare, a fireplace, live entertainment & patio. Dusty's Bar & BBQ has long been known as the BBQ headquarters of Whistler. Every summer the Bar hosts the Canadian National BBQ Championship and throughout the year the menu carries on the tradition. A veritable institution among Whistler's drinking establishments, the Longhorn has been around since the early 1980s. It is at the center of Whistler Village and is usually still packs them in until the wee hours, with the crowds moving from the saloon to the patio overlooking the base of Whistler. The interior calls to mind Steamboat Springs or Crested Butte, but the variety of local brews makes it clear that you're in BC. The menu is strictly pub food and tailored for the party crowd. Rocky Mountain Underground opened at the upper village as a local hub for the community with ski equipment, offering food and drinks from local businesses. Located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain with an outdoor patio, ski in for Après or enjoy a summer evening cocktail. Small and modest pub with a local flavor and chilled vibe. Daily events from local musicians, charity fundraisers, Aprè parties, community mountain bikes and many more events, RMU Whistler is a local hub for anybody and everybody. We also like its location so close to the apartment. Friendly and relaxed.

My Favorite places: Hiking

1) THE WHISTLER TRAIN WRECK is one of the most easy Whistler hikes. Located in the Whistler interpretive forest this hike is popular among locals. The Train Wreck Trail includes graffiti-covered train cars and fantastic views of the Cheakamus River. It’s an easy, mostly flat trail and is often used by mountain bikers as well. This is a great option for families looking to hike near Whistler! a. EASY/ 1-2 HOUR/ 5 KM / ELEVATION Minimal.

2) RAINBOW FALLS is a nice easy hike away from the tourist hot spots The trail itself is relatively flat and wide for most of the hike and follows the 21-mile creek all the way until you reach the falls. A hike to a majestic waterfall doesn’t have to be a big commitment. If you have a spare hour, check out the hike to Rainbow Falls. Starting from the trailhead for Rainbow Hike on Alta Lake Road, hike uphill taking the first fork off the main trail to the right towards the falls. If you reach the water treatment plant, you have gone a little too far a. EASY/ 1 HOUR/ 1.4 KM / ELEVATION 68 MTS.

ANCIENT CEDARS TRAIL Not only does it lead you to a grove of Ancient Cedar trees that are somewhat of a celeb here in Whistler, but you’ll also see some viewpoints along the way. There are some uphill sections and most of the trail is fairly wide, but it does get rougher in some spots so hiking shoes are very much recommended. a. EASY/ 2 HOUR/ 5 KM / ELEVATION 175 MTS.

At 70 metres tall Brandywine Falls is a magnificent view to witness. To see this waterfall the walk into the viewing area is fairly quick and flat – so perfect for people of all abilities, it can take longer depending on whether you brave the hike down! Curious about the other waterfalls nearby? You want to check out Alexander and Shannon Falls, plus Nairn Falls if you have the time.

Garibaldi Lake has to be one of our favourite Whistler hikes. The stunning views, the challenging but achievable trek, and the serenity of sitting beside Garibaldi Lake just bring so many beautiful moments together during this one-day adventure. This hike is considered intermediate, with an elevation change of 820 metres and covering 18 kilometres round-trip. Some BC Parks, including Garibaldi Provincial Park and Joffre Lakes Park, require Day-Use passes due to high visitor volumes a. INTERMEDIATE / 18 KM /Elevation 820 mts

6) CHEAKAMUS LAKE is another huge favourite. This is definitely one of the best hikes in Whistler for so many reasons. This hike is more accessible due to its limited elevation change, making it perfect for those who are really new to outdoor adventures or for those with any knee or joint pains. It is very popular as it’s just such an enjoyable day out. With beautiful views, a leisurely pace, and good company, this is sure to be a crowd favourite. a. ADVANCED / Elevation 1800 mts
