Rustic Farm House

Secluded small farm house nestled in among maple, apple and pine trees. Lots of parking for trailers and guests. Wood burning Sauna on property. Just a short walk down the hill is our Private rock beach On Lake Superior with a fire pit to get cozy and watch the sunset. The main cabin also has a fire pit for your enjoyment. This is a quiet place with whitetail deer being the only thing to come and visit. Occasionally you’ll see bald eagles fly overhead looking for their dinner. Walking trails.

Located on Portage Lake in Chassell, MI, near Houghton with quick access to Michigan Tech University, this rustic family cabin is a great place for either an overnight stay or a longer getaway. It provides a great home base for travel in the Keweenaw peninsula! As a 1930s cabin with a sauna on the lake along with a great view, the focus is on the experience! We find guests who truly enjoy our place are flexible with rustic conditions (not looking for Holiday Inn Express) and young at heart!

This property consists of over 5200 feet of river frontage and 160 acres which makes it a great place for recreational activities. Some favorites are bird watching, visiting the McCormick Tract, hiking, biking, fishing or enjoying campfires next to the river. You can ride your snowmobiles or ATV's right from the house to the trails. Location is approx 35 miles from MQT

We have water toys for the kids to enjoy as they swim, and there are 4 kayaks and a canoe, plus a stand up paddleboard available to use. We are close to hiking, fishing, boating, waterfalls, and other outdoor adventures. In the winter, you are close to snowmobile trails, and have direct lake access for ice fishing to catch walleye and pike. Ice fishing gear can be provided if requested.

Very convenient for travelers to the Keweenaw Peninsula, just a block off of U.S. Hwy 41. Irene's Pizza and the Ojibwa Casino in Baraga are just minutes away.
