The Dogwood House

A beautiful 550 square foot self built house in the woods. Many of the materials used in this house were either reused from old local houses or milled on the property itself, giving it a lot of character, while remaining modern. Quiet, private and surrounded by trees. 5 minutes from downtown Nevada City. Near a variety of outdoor activities. Down a private driveway with lots of outdoor space to enjoy. Equipped with a full kitchen, BBQ, big bathtub, art, extra bedding, TV, library and washer.

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. We’ve created a modern cozy cabin in a perfect setting near the lake. The property boasts relaxation and fun! Scotts Lake is a 3 min. drive away and the corner Lazy Bear cafe/store a 3 min. walk around the corner! The outdoor space provides a pickleball/basketball court with a mobile net and garden with a playhouse. The front deck offers outdoor dining off the kitchen w/gas bbq. Skiing/sledding just an hr away and it’s only 8-10 min into town!

If hiking is more your thing, it’s a half mile walk/drive to the Snow Mountain Ditch which connects to miles beautiful trails.

Red Dog Retreat is settled back from the road amongst the trees. 2.75 mi directly up the hill from downtown Broad St. A 7min easy drive to Historic Downtown Nevada City & 15mins to the Yuba River. Walking and biking trails are steps away from our property and we are a short drive to Scott's Flat Reservoir. Bring your boats, bikes & kayaks! Grill and sit around the fire pit on our wrap around deck. We love our peaceful home and look forward to sharing it with guests from all backgrounds.

Designed to be an off-grid, sustainable home, this house features a movable glass wall, which opens the living room into the outdoors facing the setting sun. Beautiful native landscaping surrounds a basketball court and covered dining area. Indoors, natural light and a playful spark runs throughout with a second story hammock to enjoy it all!
