Nearby Bawdsey Manor adds a touch of history being built in the nineteenth century and the home of the development of radar in world war 2. The house has been loved and looked after by the same family for twentyfive years but their connection goes back 70 years as one of them was born in the house next door in 1947.

There are many footpaths to explore straight from the Cottage, with both the River Deben and Newbourne Springs Nature Reserve in easy walking distance.
