You can also get to some main tourist spots even on foot if you want (Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison Museum, Phuc Khanh pagoda, Dong Da mound, the Old Quarter). Authentic non-touristy restaurants, banks, pharmacies, cafes and convenient stores are just close by.
