Welcome to Stoney Lonesome Retreat. Why Stoney Lonesome? Not entirely sure, you can blame it on my great grandfather, old Fredrick Richard August Christian Uhde. He named the property back in 1972 and the name has stuck!!! My parents Elward and Susan purchased our property in the summer of 1969 for $500 and we have been here ever since. My brother and I were raised here and now my wife Gretchen and I are so proud to be raising our son Simon here. The third generation on this land.

My husband and I both grew up in the Flathead Valley and have hiked all over Glacier and the Jewel Basin, skied Big Mountain and Blacktail, and we would be more than happy to give you advice and tips as you plan your trip to the Flathead!

We came to Montana as kids--My uncle built the log home we lived in with his own hands and tools. I instantly fell in love with the smell of pine, texture of wood, and old world style of living. I told myself that one day I'd build a log home too. Twenty years later, we made it happen.
