You can use your subway metro card for the same fare to get across the river to roosevelt island via tram. its a great island with gorgeous views of the city

For just $2.75, you can take a ride on the NYC Ferry to see outstanding views of the five boroughs of New York. Metrocards are not accepted--pay at the station or on the NYC Ferry app. Recommended to check time schedule before heading out.
